تا صفحه ۲۶۰ خوندم و دیگه علاقه ای به ادامه نداشتم 。 نمیخواستم حتی چنین دنیای وحشتناکی رو تخیل کنم و حالمو خراب کنم。 در اینکه این کتاب شاهکاره هیچ شکی نیست اما دوست ندارم به این اثر ارول امتیاز بالایی بدم。

I have read the Yamil translation of this book。I cannot believe how he for-see future。The author had vision。Totalitarian government won’t work。Like big brother smart phones watches our every move。I’m scared of ultra rich people power。Powerful propaganda 。The ministry of Truth recently America announced that it will enact a truthful information section in administration。One of the great books I read。Eager to read his other book Animal farm 。

I have been wanting to read 1984 for over 38 years and finally have！ It did not disappoint to say the least。 I have it 4 stars because it was boring at times， although necessary， to set up different plots and developments。 There was nothing surprising as I read， but was still great to finally read the great Orwell piece。 What I can say， is how ahead of his time Orwell was with making spot on “predictions” about the future。 Great read！

It took me a bit to actually understand what was going on in the book but once I got to understanding it it was really good！ i def recommend this if you’re looking for a good classic to read！ i find it amazing that this book was written in the 50s and just predicted everything。

very well written book， with an ending that made the reader think。 Although I would’ve liked a bit more clarification about some of the characters endings， but in a way that’s what made it brilliant as I could not stop thinking about all of the alternate endings and background characters in the story。

i read this book for school so i didn’t read it out of “i want to” but because i had to & i started it the day before we were due to have finished it， BUT I MADE IT！ it was okay， great writing though and orwell’s views for the future are relatively true （actually i don’t even know i’m just going along with what everyone else is saying） the whole thought crime thing is crazy， but what’s even crazier is the Party trying to restrict sex by making it something gross。 the whole “anti-sex” thing is so i read this book for school so i didn’t read it out of “i want to” but because i had to & i started it the day before we were due to have finished it， BUT I MADE IT！ it was okay， great writing though and orwell’s views for the future are relatively true （actually i don’t even know i’m just going along with what everyone else is saying） the whole thought crime thing is crazy， but what’s even crazier is the Party trying to restrict sex by making it something gross。 the whole “anti-sex” thing is so funny。 I HATED THE PART THAT WAS LIKE 20 PAGES LONG about goldstien’s book， i read a bit， couldn’t understand half of the words and gave up！！ 。。。more

I read 1984 when I was in high school， before the year 1984。 I understood Orwell was inspired by his fear of Nazism and Stalinism， but that did not seem very relevant to me in the US。 Reading the book again （for our Indy UChicago Book Club） it seems frighteningly relevant， because the US elected a fascist in 2016 to be President and Putin is moving Russia in the direction of the hellish totalitarian state created by George Orwell in 1984。 Currently Kim Jong-un's North Korea is a nearly perfect m I read 1984 when I was in high school， before the year 1984。 I understood Orwell was inspired by his fear of Nazism and Stalinism， but that did not seem very relevant to me in the US。 Reading the book again （for our Indy UChicago Book Club） it seems frighteningly relevant， because the US elected a fascist in 2016 to be President and Putin is moving Russia in the direction of the hellish totalitarian state created by George Orwell in 1984。 Currently Kim Jong-un's North Korea is a nearly perfect model of the nightmare Orwell envisioned， but other authoritarian governments are moving in that direction。 Orwell's warning that fascist and communist dictatorships pose the same danger to individual freedom should be taken seriously by everyone who is not a brainwashed ideological fanatic。 If you don't want the thought police eventually coming after you， don't ever vote for a politician who has authoritarian inclinations。 Orwell warned us back in 1948 that individual liberties must be guarded and authoritarianism resisted。 Otherwise， look out。 Big Brother will be watching you。 。。。more
